Addressing Formal Invitations

…now it’s time to talk about what to write on the envelopes

ADDRESSING INVITATIONS – PRINTING OPTIONS

Since the average wedding today consist of over 100 guests it is important to consider how you will address your invitation envelopes.  Cost and time are both factors to discuss, below are some suggestions.

  • WRITE THEM YOURSELF OR WITH MEMBERS OF YOUR BRIDAL PARTY: Okay, this option allows you to get them done at your own pace, but it can be very time consuming.  Also, not everyone has elegant and legible handwriting, so take that into consideration before deciding who should do the writing
  • CALLIGRAPHER: Easily obtain beautiful and professional results, but this option can be costly.  Be sure to include the cost of calligraphy in your invitation budget if this is the option you choose.
  • PRINT THEM YOURSELF: You will often be able to match font to what your invitations have been printed with and the task can completed in a timely fashion.  A high quality office or personal printer will give the best results.  Check with your invitation supplier, some now offer envelope address printing.
  • PRINTED LABELS: Although considered easy and quick they lack the elegance for a sophisticated wedding invitation.  Labels leave a cheap and impersonal impression for your guests.  In addition, it takes time and patience to ensure you labels are affixed neatly and straight.
